| Many of us remember what it was like when Molalla Avenue only had one lane going each way. In my neighborhood, cars would race up Linn Avenue to avoid traffic on Molalla Avenue. Pleasant Avenue experienced even worse traffic. Cars would fly through the Pleasant Avenue neighborhood in a race to beat slow vehicles to the top of the hill. ...and that was before we had Tri-Met buses. | ||||||||||
| If you think entering Molalla Avenue from a parking lot is difficult now, imagine all that traffic squeezed into a single lane and all openings squeezed out. | ||||||||||
| If you think Beavercreek Road is congested now, imagine all the cars that will avoid Molalla Avenue in town and take 213 from I-205 or Holly Lane from Redland Road. | ||||||||||
| Here's what happened when I called the Mayor about it: He began ridiculing me as soon as he learned I was born in Oregon City and lived here my whole life. He interrupted me to say, He's only lived here 9 years and his vote counts as much as mine. When I tried to finish my sentence over his interruption, he accused me of interrupting him! |

| Obviously, the Mayor hasn't lived here long enough to remember what it was like when Molalla Avenue only had one lane going each way. Obviously, for those of us who do remember, he doesn't care what we think. |
Just remember the good news; When others are done using up the city, they'll move-on while those of us who really care about Oregon City will still be here, listening to each other, and voting. |
