For those who have been watching this website, Roseburg's victory over North Medford was not a surprise.  While the other polls have missed the strength of teams like Roseburg, Wynn's Ranking has been on top of it.  We hit 20 out 21 predictions last week.

Wow, what a week.  Let's start with the most interesting.

SOC - Roseburg beat North Medford, surprising everyone but Wynn's Ranking, where Roseburg has earned the SOC #1 spot.  This week they'll prove whether it was a fluke or if the they deserve to be ranked #1 in SOC.  South Medford is officially ranked #1 with a 5-0 record.  If Roseburg, 4-1, beats them, not only will they equal South Medford's record, but they'll earn the #1 spot without dispute; ...but that coin.

There will be tears in the SOC.  With only three play-off positions available, one out of the four very qualified teams stays home.  Eagle Point, 4-2, gets a bye, while North Medford, 3-2, gets an easy game against Grants Pass.  They'll both stand at 4-2.  North Medford beat Eagle Point earlier in the year; ...but that coin.

If Roseburg should lose against South Medford, we have three teams with a 4-2 record.  And considering NM beat EP, EP beat RB, and RB beat NM, one very strong team will be left home as determined by ...that coin.

PIL  -  The other polls are wrong.  Grant will never get a chance to prove they are the best in PIL.  Yes, we have a three way tie in PIL right now with Grant, Lincoln, and Madison all earning a 6-0 record.  That will change when Grant beats Madison this week.

But did you notice Grant never played Lincoln?  The other polls rank Lincoln number one in the PIL and ignore Grant.  But Wynn's Ranking shows Grant at 19, followed by Lincoln at 21.  Unfortunately, Lincoln is lined up for an easy game against Franklin and may walk away with the number one seed, leaving Grant (if they beat Madison) to face the Pac-9 #2, Tualatin.

IMC - Based on point spread, Summit is the best team in the IMC.  But they messed up real-bad earlier in the year.  The #1 seed will go to Hermiston, 6-1, after they beat Pendleton, 4-3, giving them a 7-1 record.

Summit, 5-2, will beat Mountain View, 4-3 and end up with a 6-2 record.  Redmond, 6-2, gets a bye this week, while Hood River Valley, 5-2, should stomp The Dalles, 0-7, and also earn a 6-2 record.  This gives us a three way tie for second with Summit, Redmond, and Hood River Valley.

Redmond will get the #2 seed having beat Summit and Hood River Valley.  Hood River Valley will get the #3 seed for having beat Summit.  So, as the #4 seed, Summit faces Clackamas in the first round of play-offs.  Summit will lose.  Such is the cost of messing up earlier in the year.

Val - Sprague, 8-0, will beat South Salem, 6-2, while North Salem, 5-3, will beat McKay, 3-5, and McNary, 6-2, will beat West Salem, 3-5, this week.  As a result we'll have Sprague #1, and McNary #2.  South Salem will be #3 for having beat North Salem #4 earlier in the year.

MHC - Barlow, 6-0, will beat Central Catholic, 6-0 and win the #1 seed for MHC.  Central Catholic gets the #2 seed.  Reynolds, 4-2, will beat Parkrose, 0-6, and earn the #3 seed.

Met - Jesuit, 8-0, will beat Westview, 7-1, this week.  Beaverton, 7-1, has an easy game against Century.  Otherwise, mayhem.  Beaverton beat Westview earlier this year.  So, Jesuit #1, Beaverton #2, Westview #3.

MWL - Good thing there're four playoff spots.  MWL is one of the best leagues in Oregon.  Sheldon #1, South Eugene #2.  Marshfield should be #3, but they'll have to beat Thurston to prove it.  Thurston #4.

TRL - No surprises.  Clackamas #1, Lake Oswego #2, Lakeridge #3, West Linn #4.

Pac-9 - No surprises.  Tigard #1, Tualatin #2, Newburg #3, Canby #4

Best & Worst notes -  Southridge #16 on Wynn's Ranking and Eagle Point #20, are the two best teams to miss the playoffs.  Madison #52, earns the prestigious title of worst team to make the playoffs.

North Medford is the best #3 seed, but probably won't beat Barlow #1.  However, Thurston, as the best #4 seed, is a better team than the PIL #1 seed, Grant.

The worst #1 seed is Hermiston, who is not quite as good as the Val #4, North Salem.  The worst #2 seed is Redmond, who faces the Val #2, McNary.  There may not be any IMC or PIL after round 1.

Top Games

The top games in week nine will be Roseburg vs. South Medford, Barlow vs. Central Catholic, Marshfield vs. Thurston, Grant vs. Madison.
